Detroit is the latest stop for the popular Maker Faire. Handmade Detroit is pleased to bring you Craft Faire, a juried craft fair within Maker Faire Detroit. The event will showcase 25 independent artists and alternative crafters with goods to sell within Maker Faire.
Craft Faire will take place Saturday, July 28th 9:30am-6pm, and July 29th 9:30am-6pm in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.

Simply put, we aren’t your typical arts and craft fair. You won’t see country crafts or painted saws at our fair. You will, however, see rock star nightlights, recycled T-shirt tote bags and vegan lip-gloss.
Clothing, accessories, bath and body products, stationery, zines, toys, baby stuff, art, household accessories, jewelry, recycled and sustainable crafts and more.
Craft Faire is run by Handmade Detroit, a DIY craft collective that aims to create community and opportunities around Detroit's independent makers. Our web site features connective information for crafters and more about our mission. Check it out at handmadedetroit.com
Anyone who makes things by hand is invited to apply for a vending spot.
We will NOT accept vendors of vintage resale, Tupperware-type products or of the mass-produced nature.
Applications are accepted online only. Complete your application, including up to 5 photos and send the $5 non-refundable application using the button provided.
Incomplete or unpaid applications will be automatically disqualified. No exceptions.
No late applications will be accepted. No exceptions.
You may not fill out an application for a friend.
The deadline for your complete vendor application and fee is May 31, 2012.
You will be notified of acceptance (either way) starting the week of June 10, 2012 via the contact information supplied on your application.
Around 25 vendors will be accepted. We expect to get around 100 applications this year.
We make our selections based on variety, localness, quality and affordability. We do our best to keep our fairs fresh by rotating vendors and reserving spots for sellers who have never worked with us before. If you've applied before and didn't get in, please feel encouraged to apply this year. Conversely, please understand that we cannot accept every vendor who applies, or has sold at a Handmade Detroit event before.
Vendors not accepted are placed on a waiting list. We generally have a few vendors cancel each year.
We require full payment of your fee by June 30, 2012. If we don't receive full payment by that date, we will give your space to someone else, so make sure to get it in! Detailed payment information will accompany your vendor acceptance letter.
Because all of the money will be spent before the fair opens, we do not give refunds. However, please e-mail us as soon as you know you can't make it. We will do our best to figure out an alternative if one is available, but sadly we can't refund money once it reaches us.
Sure, in fact, we encourage it! Sharing a booth is an economical way to participate in the fair, as each table space is rented for the same price no matter the number of sellers wishing to share it.
To apply with a partner, fill out the application once. Make sure to write the business names of all companies on the application. Include information and photos from all businesses. Then pick one person to be your e-mail and address contact. Submit one application fee.
We cannot assign anyone a space partner.
Please e-mail all vendor concerns to vendors@detroiturbancraftfair.com
$5 non-refundable application fee is payable via PayPal.
Upon acceptance, the vendor fee is an additional $90 per space. Vendor space of a 6 foot table will be assigned after acceptance. Should any dispute arise over space, Handmade Detroit retains the right to make final decisions.
The simple answer is: Back into the fair. Fees cover venue and table rental, lighting, advertising, promotion and printing costs, and other costs, like web-hosting fees.
Detailed instructions will be included in your vendor acceptance letter.
“You must have a taxpayer identification number to operate your business. This is generally your social security number, or an individual taxpayer number. However if you have employees, and in some other circumstances, you will need an Employer Identification Number.”
